2023
New building completed: Concept Heidelberg now occupies almost 2000 square meters of office space
After only about a year of construction, Concept Heidelberg, Europe's leading provider of training and information services in the field of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical production and quality assurance, has completed and moved into its extension building at the Heidelberg site. This provides the company with an additional approx. 800 square metres of office space and a total of around 2,000 square metres.
Concept Heidelberg has been present at the Heidelberg site since 1978 and had already added an extension to its office building in Wieblingen in 2003. The new extension was intended to accommodate the company’s strong growth, which today employs 40 people, including pharmacists, chemists/biochemists and microbiologists. Even during the Covid 19 pandemic, the company was able to significantly expand its business in just two years by developing a comprehensive online seminar and conference programme. In addition to the "on site" events in ten European countries, this online event business has now established itself as the company's second mainstay.
As in the existing building, where the offices are being continuously modernised, the focus in the new building was on a contemporary, bright working environment. Accordingly, the new, air-conditioned offices and other rooms were designed with glass and wood. In addition, a lounge on the top floor of the new building offers all employees plenty of space for breaks, personal meetings or even meetings in small groups. With the extension, Concept Heidelberg is also relieving its increasing energy consumption. A new photovoltaic system with an output of 10.2 kWp supplies both the building and the charging points for electric and hybrid vehicles with electricity.

Large database of online GMP/GDP seminars - on demand
2020 was a year dominated by the Corona Pandemic. Concept Heidelberg has been offering a wide range of online seminars and conferences during this time. The new GMP Journal website
The GMP Journal is now also available online - both in German and English. The new website www.gmp-journal.com offers you access to all articles. Thanks to an extensive archive, past issues of the GMP Journal can be read in the form of scrollable files on your PC, tablet or mobile phone.

350 years of Merck – 40 years of Concept Heidelberg
The 9. Merck Pharma Forum is accompanied by not one, but two anniversaries. Merck, the oldest pharmaceutical company in the world, celebrates its 350th anniversary in 2018. And even though Concept Heidelberg is only turning 40 this year, there is still reason to celebrate. Together, the companies are organising the Merck Pharma Forum, which is taking place on the Merck premises in Darmstadt, for the ninth time this year.
2017
Concept Heidelberg launches „GDP Navigator“
With the revision in 2013, the good distribution practice (GDP) requirements originally published in 1994 were tightened considerably and gain a whole new meaning in light of the ongoing globalisation in pharmaceutical production. Therefore, Concept Heidelberg developed the new GDP Navigator (German) in addition to the GMP Navigator (German). The Website offers recent news, information on guidelines, trainings and much more surrounding the topic good distribution practice.
Concept Heidelberg has organised the official GAMP®-5 Conference for 10 years
The launch of the German version of the new GAMP®-5 guides “Records and Data Integrity” was the focus of the 10. Official GAMP®-5 Conference that took place on 05/06 December, 2017 in Mannheim/Germany. Besides the main topic data integrity, the conference also covered issues like IT infrastructure and serialisation. Concept Heidelberg organises the Official GAMP®-5 Conference together with partner organisations APV, ISPE and VDI/VDE.
20 years of APIC/CEFIC Conference
The APIC/CEFIC European Conference has been the leading conference for active pharmaceutical ingredients for 20 years. Participants from over 20 countries took part in the 20th anniversary of the conference on 25-27 October, 2017. Officials from EDQM, EMA, international authorities and the industry discussed the most important API-related developments in the areas of GMP and Regulatory Affairs.
2016
Concept Heidelberg organises the first joint conference with United States Pharmacopeia Convention
In cooperation with the ECA Academy, Concept Heidelberg has organised a joint conference with the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for the first time. The conference, which took place on 08/09 November in Prague, focussed on the "LifeCycle Approach" for the validation of analytical methods. Find out more here.

Concept Heidelberg expands collaboration with ECA Foundation
As partner of the ECA Foundation, Concept Heidelberg supports the institution in establishing new interest groups. The activities include membership administration, website management and the joint organisation of conferences and trainings. At present, 7 ECA Interest Groups are managed by Concept Heidelberg.

More than 10.000 participants in 2013
With over 10.000 participants at 280 GMP trainings and conferences in 2013, Concept Heidelberg further strengthens its position as the largest service provider in pharmaceutical quality assurance and production. Conferences are held in 10 European countries. In-house trainings for pharmaceutical companies are conducted all around the world, already, as are GMP Audits and GMP consulting projects.

GMP eLearning: new GMP course available
In October 2011, Concept Heidelberg took over the international business of MediaVision in the Netherlands with GMP eLearning. The scope has now been expanded by a course specifically on drug manufacturing in dispensaries. This new course was developed with a team from five different dispensaries. Just like the nine other GMP courses for pharmaceutical companies, this course in now bookable via our website. Customers who want to train a larger number of persons may acquire a company license. No software set-up is necessary for this. The application can be run online on every computer with internet access.
More than 2000 Concept Heidelberg participants registered in the GMP Forum
GMP regulations are complex and subject of constant changes. Hence, the daily practice often comes with GMP questions. The GMP Forum is an easy and efficient way to submit GMP questions to colleagues from the industry and authorities. Right now, over 2000 former participants in Concept Heidelberg events are registered in the forum. Why don’t you have a look? Everybody is free to read, though only registered users may pose and answer questions.

Record number of visitors at Europe’s biggest Pharma Congress with GMP/FDA conferences
The Pharma Congress Production & Technology is headed for a record number of visitors. Participants can pick their individual program from eight parallel GMP/FDA conferences. The focus lies on the presentation of case studies by leading pharmaceutical companies in Europe. Important: all congress events will be recognised within the usual GMP training.

Concept Heidelberg takes over eLearning from MediaVision
As of 01 October, 2011, Concept Heidelberg has taken over the eLearning software of MediaVision in the Netherlands. The leading GMP training and information service provider thereby further expanded their comprehensive services.
Concept Heidelberg is now Lufthansa Mobility Partner
After the German Lufthansa first granted special rates to participants of individual events, these rates now apply for participants of all Concept Heidelberg events.
Frist conference in the USA
Concept Heidelberg organises the first conference for the ECA Academy and the European QP Association in the USA. The conference on EU pharmaceutical regulations took place in Washington DC.
FDA, China FDA, EU authorities confirmed – great reception for European GMP Conference in Heidelberg
Representatives of the leading drug authorities confirmed their participation in the 4. European GMP Conference. The conference is held in Heidelberg every two years and is supported by the ECA, the European QP Association and the University of Heidelberg. The conference is organised by Concept Heidelberg. The first official GAMP® 5 Conference is held in Mannheim – a joint event by ISPE, APV, Concept Heidelberg and VDI/VDE-GMA.
The International Pharmaceutical Excipients Committee (IPEC) and Concept Heidelberg organise the first Excipients Conference in Munich.
2007
Concept Heidelberg donates GPHF minilab for identification of falsified medicinal products to Ghana.
Concept Heidelberg founds the Pharmaceutical Consulting Alliance in order to be able to offer comprehensive GMP consultation.

The European QP Association and Concept Heidelberg organise the first QP Forum in Prague.
The European Fine Chemicals Group (EFCG) and Concept Heidelberg organise the first Pharma Business Conference in Barcelona.
2002
Foundation of the API Compliance Institute: a cooperation of APIC/CEFIC and Concept Heidelberg enables the planning, organisation and execution of shared audits.
1999
The software Guideline Manager Version 1.0 is published and since then annually updated.
The European Compliance Academy (ECA) commissions Concept Heidelberg to organise all their events.
1998
The Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients Committee (APIC), a sector group of the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC), and Concept Heidelberg organise the first European API Conference in Brussels.
Concept Heidelberg takes over the software “Pharmschul” developed by “Boehringer Mannheim” (today: “Roche Diagnostics”) and, together with the GMP Software GmbH, developed it further.

Concept Heidelberg organises the first English conference in Brussels.

Concept Heidelberg founds the „Wallhäußer Preis“ worth 10.000 DM (5.000 EURO) and has since then awarded the price annually to excellent publications in the area of drug quality and safety.

Specialised conference „Die PharmBetrV“ with representatives from authorities, BPI, supervision and industry.
1983
Five years after its foundation, the company already organises 11 GMP conferences, some of them with more than 200 participants.
1980
The first issue of the “Pharma Technologie Journal“ is published. Since then, many more issues of these scientific papers were released.
1979
First conference “Pharmaceutical Water“ with 198 participants.
1978
Foundation of Concept Heidelberg GmbH. In the same year, the US health agency FDA published the 21 CFR 210/211 cGMP Guide. This document and the EU GMP Guide published in 1989 have been the basis of Concept Heidelberg’s services ever since.
